M.A.C Magic,Mirth and Mischief

'Women are always beautiful' - Ville Valo

No matter who we are and where we are at this stage of life, beauty is part of being a women..and sometimes it need so enhancement or some magic with the right tools and colours..

I was at M.A.C latest promotion at Suria Klcc last Wednesday..it was all full of magical colours with bright pink, purple and black all over the floor. All ladies in black equip with brushes and mirror ready to make our day by giving free make over and for one day you can feel the difference between our normal makeup and the one done by the pro.. :-)

Stage makeup with purple eye shadow and sparkling lip gloss..it was all about magic and mirth

Part of the promotion area..even one mamat bangla posed here..hehe

View towards M.A.C make over area..they are having 5 days promo for their latest palette eyeshadow and brushes which come with a cute poach bag..

I love the combination of all these colours..simply stunning

Even the floor looks dreamy with pink and black and red
For further info you can go here
I love the M.A.C Mascara and lipgloss..and their eyeliner which come in a small bottle and we have to use a small brush to apply them..just like a painting :-) Its all about Magic,Mirth and Mischief..
Beauty is expensive tho...

Water colour class for kids

Weekend in this house is always revolves around the three of us since owner of the house is always away for his classes or work, I still find some time to make our weekend meaningful despite screaming in between cooking coz Hadif has started climbing the staircase and will give me a big grin whenever he saw my face...and Sufiya as always still trying to be a big sister and there are times that she act more than a sister, and Hadif have to bear the consequenses..that means more crying for him coz his big sister is so garang...poor little boy.

This is her painting from nursery- crayon on paper..she have a bold and strong stroke compared to her friends..sampai terkeluar gambar...

Sufiya has explored using coloured pencil on A4 paper and drawing paper, so last Saturday I gave her new activity to stimulate her mind and her motor skill...she loves the brush since Barbie-Rapunzel are using the same tools (she watch that movie many many time..and now influenced by all things Rapunzel and pink..)

She did it all by herself..started with lines, circles and dots..and she choosed all the colours for her painting but I supervised on the water mixing...It took more than 30 minutes to create her first piece..while Hadif was busy enjoying his kuih makmor and kuih batang buruk (taste pakcik2 Hadif ni)

Proud painter with her first watercolour painting - 'Abstract'

When using watercolour for kids we need to ensure that the product is safe (refer to the product label) and of coz the brush, which are mostly hog brush, so opted for synthetic brush which gives almost the same effect. They are cheaper that hog brush which some could cost up to RM60 for one piece..I saw one brush made in China, using squirrel hair, for water colour and the brush is so fine but the price is like WTH...RM50++ for one small brush..what an expensive hobby.

At the end the most important thing is she is happy and proud of her painting and started talking about it to everbody..

Dazed and confused

There are many choices in life that are so tempting..but at the end of the day we could only pick one..only one at a time..It is hard to make that choice when you (only you la..) who think that you can do both...

Base on what I did before, they said that I don't suit with what I've been thinking of..'they' are these qualified people in the field who has been supervising me during those tender age when I don't know the meaning of vista, linkages, genuis loci and what not...'they' said that I did not show my interest towards 'this' thing that I know I have the passion.

But 'he' said go for it...coz he know my future plan..he said that 'i know you'....but he is not this field, he never study those urban things...even though he knows what is 'street activities' after spending most of his time at my studio back then...

So confused...maybe I should go fishing...this is what 'they' used to say seven years ago whenever we were stuck with our design philosophy or the idea just won't come out from those messy brain....

Facebook's Socializing Skill

People are moving at different pace now and time for socializing are limited, no more having a chit chat like our mom used to have..asking about gulai ikan semilang or just sharing some juicy gossips while cooking and menyapu halaman.

Everybody just gathered at Facebook nowadays..who does not..? even someone you did not expect to have an account will one day send a request to be your friend, and the next day you'll received cookies, flowers and even hug and kissess...We wish Selamat Hari Raya and send duit raya online, even sharing raya photos...and whatever photos..

I just jumped into the same wagon few months ago to find my classmate from SNC..that was the main intention....and I limit myself to just certain boundary..no Mafia War or Sorority thingy...and I just send one time..cookies as a courtsey reply..and that was it....

I rather drive 15 minutes to ERL Station, parked my car there, wait for 28 minutes coz I missed the train, and ride a transit ERL for another 28 minutes and arrived at KL Sentral..and wait another 5 or 10 minutes before the next train arrived and 15 minutes later I had a good cup of coffee with a friend at KLCC...I mean,... a real coffee and cookies in a real and tangible space and a real friend...not online meeting or conversation...

Maybe I'm not that good at socializing online...I don't send flowers and share thought about their dress, I never join any circle that they are in...what I did was I pressed the ignored or decline button (i didn't remember).. Hey..it's time consuming receiving all those thing, there are too many steps to follow......so I'm out of that circle..

And people can always misunderstood and misinterpret certain things that we write or any photo that we posted there...

When their feeling hurt..they'll send you a 'bitchslap'..ooucchhh...that was kind enough..thank you, at least dare don't there to do it in real life...

I better go now and asked my friend to join me for lunch later..errr...real lunch at a real cafe ya..!

Have fun berMukaBuku..jangan bermuka-muka sudahlah labuuu....

Coretan Aidilfitri: Penang

As long as I remember, family photo during this special day is a must, that was the time where most relative gather and exchanged duit raya, reminiscing stories of the good old days.. And for the other side of family raya this year, I only post these one photo which has been compressed into one..notice that little girl in every photo..?

She reminds me of myself but not at that tender age..I was in primary school and obsessed with camera and always have a strong radar and can sensed where the shot will be taken and I will definitely sit right infront of the camera, or anywhere that I was sure that the camera will captured my face...and I succeeded in making my face appeared 70 % in those photo...and that was the time we used 'KODAK'....any brand was kodak to us..be it Fuji or Konika...

And now with DSLR..Nikon, Canon, Sony..photoshop and what not..anything can be perfect, bulging tummy can be trimmed without any strenous excercise, freckles face be turn into flawless skin with lighter..kalah Fair and Lovely....

Whatever the camera is, with photoshop or not..the moment with the families are precious..and sometimes the best moment can't be captured in photos but they remains in our heart forever.

Coretan Aildilfitri-Kedah

Dua budak perasan cute dengan spek hitam..Hadif bergaya dgn Kakak punya, Sufiya pulak dgn spek abah...just before we left for Aloq Staq...during my time, there was no car, no long journey trip for raya..but riding bas Mara from Aloq Staq to Kuala Sala tengah panaih lit-lit was not an easy ride...spek hitam jangan mimpi la masa tu...

Clear blue sky with pure white fluffy cloud complete the photo..its feels good going back to a kampung..anytime.....

I miss going to our old madrasah for solat Aidilfitri..back then it was so serene on that glorious morning with many familiar and unfamiliar faces, I love going down the spiral concrete staircase and catching up with people that we only met twice a year...and sometime it rain on that Syawal morning and the air was fresh and it was a different kind of feeling seeing drops of water on hibiscus leaves from the garden...

Excited big sister on the first day of Syawal...when I was a kid, the best part of raya was always 'pi kutip duit raya' session, back then it was only dua kupang but there was one generous Arab family who lived nearby who gave us one ringgit..it was really big for us, their house was full of rich colour with lights everywhere, lights that was actually a chandelier...it was a strange sight for us who only knew 'lampu kalimantang' and 'mentol'...that was it, other than that was a strange thing :-P

We had a hard time with Hadif who just want to be with us..taknak berenggang, I just tried my skill in preparing / balut ketupat..baru satu, he started crying and I had to abandoned that first attempt with ketupat palas...looks like the skill could only be sharpened in next few years..makan nasi impit je la...

Masjid Sultan Mizan,Putrajaya

Masjid Sultan Mizan,Putrajaya is a new mosque and a significant landmark in Putrajaya. It's design is workable and practical compared to Masjid Putra which located near to Prime Minister Office.

This new mosque has been design to compliment its surrounding and I think they have studied Masjid Negara as their precedent, the same coolinf effect from infinity pool has been applied here.

The planning and position of this mosque has been derived from adjacent existing building therefore 'Kiblat Walk' has been created, one could appreciate the aesthetic not only internally but also on it's landscape and square with fountain and spacious space for overflow area.

For more photos of this mosque, please visit my flickr, on the right side of this blog--->

(i failed to link directly to my photostream :-(

Generally I think this mosque is more practicle and well design except for some minor issue like this one :-

Escalator leading to prayer hall, quite a number has been provided but safety issue is not considered. As we all know, we are not allowed to wear any shoes inside any mosque due to cleanliness, therefore people will be walking around on their bare foot and how do they expect people to use this escalator when their feet are exposed to this moving object. It looks normal and safe but can you imagine the moment this escalator reach the top floor and the bottom ..eww..

This is not acceptable according to safety code, but I'm not sure how they gonna handle this since everything are in place....'this is Bolehland'..remember..?..everything can one..

Missing glass panel, height : almost 1000mm...risk : tergolek, patah hidung patah kaki, tak boleh sembahyang berdiri...culprit; _________?

Big grand staircase with missing panel, not only one side but both... just imagine budak2 and makcik2 with kain telekung panjang, terpijak kain, nak pegang railing tapi terlepas, nak pegang panel kaca tapi tak dak..terus tergolek-golek jatuh..kalau tergolek takpa lagi..tapi kalau terhumban ke bawah..? I think the management should really take care of this safety issue especially during Solat Tarawikh...

Satu Kelahiran dan Satu Pemergian Abadi

People come and go..they come and left for a while but some will leave us forever..

On Monday, 7th Sept 2009 Nuzul Quran on the 17th of Ramadhan I went to a friend house to visit her newborn baby girl..at 3.0 kg she look so cute and was still sleeping ..undisturbed despite a loud sound from the tv and from us...babies always makes us feel serene..by just looking at them ...

The same day at about 10am back in Penang another soul was sleeping..but she sleep and sleep and will never ever woke up again...we received the sad news at 1pm and it was a sudden lost but the best for her who suffered a lot lately from cancer. Hubby went back to Penang alone before the burial ceremony.

We will miss her phone call whenever we are in Penang, coz she never fail to call my MIL's house to ask about us, about our kids...she always said 'Suhaila, ada baik ka..? anak-anak macamana ? Haffis..?'...

This auntie was the one who call my hubby 'Haffis boy'... auntie that were strong enough to survive many obstacles in her life, childless but not lack of love from nieces and nephews..

Unfortunately for my kids they don't have the opportunity to know her well and to call her Nani, to taste her famous muruku..no more phone calls asking about these kids...no more pain for her, no more medicines...only Al-Fatihah

We will always remember you in our prayer Sakinah Kala...Ameen

Love and Bonding

“Other things may change us, but we start and end with family”
-Anthony Brandt-

Family is a small community that function with the existence of its member. The form of family are varies depending on local culture, upbringing and geographical location. The real meaning of family is something intangible, some people lives under one roof but they lack the essence, some are separated by continents but their bonding are so strong compared to the one that see each other every single day.

Since I have my own small family now, I realised my things that I neglected before in my younger years, those were the years of adventure seeking.

Living apart from our loves one might be easy peasy for some but for certain people it is unbearable.

My father in law came to Malaya at tender age, not even twelve yet. There was not much choice at that time, as we all know it is always hardship that makes people move out from one place to another. He left his brother and sister who are his only family at that time, and came to Penang to find something that could change his life and his family's fate.

He was brought here by a kind soul that was known to his family, so after a long journey from Kolkata he finally arrived at this land with hope and promises. I can't imagine what was in his mind at that time, a small child who was supposed to be guarded and cherish with loves and care living alone in a foreign land with foreign culture and language. Or maybe it was the hardship that changed a small boy into man at that time. Or maybe loves means sacrifice and leaving your love one was the best option.

I think he really work hard all those year and his families are always in his mind, even though he have a family of his own now, those in Kolkata are always in his heart, long distance calls are his medicine and so does some photographs of the growing and extending family.

When I was in Johore for five years, the worst part was when I fell sick..even a minor one, I just wished that I was surrounded by people closed to me. It was hard..and when my father in law who I call 'Mama' was diagnosed with kidney stone symptom, I think he will miss his faraway brother and others back in Kolkata even more. He told me that he was scared to go through the procedure...

I've been to his village in Kolkata once back in August 2005 (we celebrated Merdeka day in India :-) and it was all a different sight, a new world that is totally different from the one in Bollywoodland. Some houses stood just the same as he left for Malaya..the family are growing but everybody have to squeeze in to live in a small space for as long as they can remember or when fate change their life.

Hj.Mohossain Molla (middle) with his brother ,Bhod Babu(far left)in Kolkata

And this Ramadhan, with the sickness and old age I think the feeling and longing are much deeper...

Yesterday while watching Om Shanti Om, during this scene where Shah Rukh Khan and Kiron Kher appeared..my daughter said '*Dadi'...Ohh that was sweet..the bonding is there...(*Dadi means grandma in Benggali)

This post is kind of anniversary post for that meaningful trip to Kolkata 4 years ago.

I wonder how is it like having Iftar in Kolkata....?

Salam Ramadhan

Ramadhan came as usual but it was welcomed in a different mood this year. The excitement of waiting for the Big day and the preparation were less compared to previous year due to many unexpected factors.

First, it was Sufiya's turn to the clinic with 38 degree followed by me the next day plus three days medical leave and back pain. Her abah followed suit on Friday, Ramadhan eve and he asked me to bring him to the hospital..I only prayed for the best..And to complete the whole gloomy weather, it was finally Hadif's turn that lasted almost a week..39.3 degree...I was really scared, it was like a big cycle and never ending sickness in the house.

Alhamdulillah, by now all of us has recovered and Hadif's first tooth just popped out after the fever.

------------Moving----------

Two years has always been the period for me to collect everything along the road, and now a new path has been laid upon. I've decided to just walk through and gain new experience as much as I can..so goodbye Parcel C, and boring cafe of C6 and hopefully no more blocking other people's car.. :-P

This is an unexpected news of the year, I got two news in just 2 days that involved changing and switching...whatever it is it surely will be better, one should not feel to comfortable at only one place.

The new mosque will be my new vista....

--------------Mini Project-----

I'm currently working on this piece, my first time in dress making, it is all handmade..dear hubby, you should just go and grabbed one Singer for me..

50% done..please ignore the workmanship.. :-P

I drawn the pattern (after googled and inspired by many blogs), cut the material and start sewing, Half day work...to be continued next week.

-------
Salam Ramadhan to all..

Terengganu : Part 2

----Pulau Perhentian - Awarna Perhentian Resort----

Smooth journey to the island..with turtle sunglasses bought at a kiosk in Alamanda- last minute shopping for the trip with hubby..he told me to just grab one..so this RM15.OO thingy does help, for the photo not for the eye ;-P

View from our room, it is a spacious room with one single bed and one queen size bed, so we opted to dragged along another friend to stay with us,..the more the merrier

Pro swimmer, medium and learner in Awarna Perhentian Resort pool..splashing good time...the rest of the team were having a nap after lunch but the three of us take the opportunity to play around here before the snorkelling trip.

Most of the snorkelling area has lost its charm, the corals are dead...I did not see a clown fish at all compared to last trip here in 2004. This is the evidence of environmental pollution, corals are very fragile and they need specific requirement for their habitable space. Do you know that corals only grow about 1 inch a year..just imagine the destruction due human activity..that was one of the reason I choosed not to used flippers during that trip coz it might also affect the corals especially the one at shallow area.

I've seen a vast area of dead corals in Redang in 2005..somewhere at their marine park, and it was a scary sight...they looks like bones everywhere.

We come for the beauty of nature but at the same time we destroy it by our activities that are harmful to the environment, as a traveller one should always keep in mind that we should enjoy the serenity of fragile island and do our bit for the next generation.

During my last trip to Redang, I saw an extension project in progress at one of the prominent resort there, from the activities it was clearly destroying the sea, the beach and the corals. We can say that it was just a minor work and in controlled and well planned according to EIA requirement and so on, but the fact is no matter how small it is still affecting those small little things down there.

------------

Awarna Perhentian Resort's pool - view from staircase

Blue water, lush greenery, white sandy beach and coconut trees...a perfect getaway..I wish that it is still the same by the time my kids able to come here with their friends and enjoy the beauty of nature like I did.

Waiting for the boat..and enjoying the view of clear blue sea..

Young guy behind the wheel...so you can expect a lot of adrenalin rush and bumpy ride even though the sea was not rough at all..hampeh mamat ni..

----------Kuala Besut------------

Bougt some keropok Losong at this stall...these makcik thought that we were university students..hahahah...kembang2 hidung

------on the road--------
lembu-lembu di tengah padang ditemani bangau setia..

undisturbed green lung..we off the air cond and let the breezed touched our tanned and not so smooth skin :-P

Crossing a small bridge

My friend's lunch..nasi putih with otak lembu moo moo.. and burung puyuh..poor little bird ended up in her plate...

We stopped by at a friend's house in Pasir Puteh and tasted fresh durian, mangosteen, langsat, setoi and rambutan from his dusun..the fruit season is at its end now..

Look at the timber post..

Traditional Kelantan house..tarditional houses in Malaysia are differ based on lcation, geographical condition, cultural belief as well as influenced from neighbouring country. Kelantan house sits on a post that are only about 800mm high with a small verandah in front of the house where else Terengganu houses are much higher with dominent roof and detailing.

A timber house at Pasir Puteh, Kelantan..for storage..it is a nice village with traditional houses and orchard just next to their house. But most of them live not in a comfort habitable space.

Habitable space for human or corals are one essential thing that should not be taken lightly..it is a symbiosis..we need each other..

It was a fruitful trip (with various fruits in the boot as well)..tiring but interesting...

I reached Putrajaya at 4am on Friday after almos 8 hours journey crossing Gua Musang, Kuala Kerai, Bukit Tujuh, Bentong, Lipis, Merapoh...and we have to over take many lorries and movers in pitch black night and it was not something that I would do again...better use LPT..no more racing heart...

I will definitely come again to Terengganu with hubby but on different route..ingatlah orang yang tersayang..pandulah di jalan yang selamat..

Have a nice weekend everyone

Terengganu : Part 1

We left for Terengganu at almost 1pm on Lebuhraya Pantai Timur (LPT), it was my first time crossing that route to the East Coast, but I think this route is safer than the other one..

Welcome to Terengganu Kite

I noticed many drivers here in Terengganu who dare driving topless..the male la..not female..and they just act cool..like driving dalam kampung.. :-P

Sunset at Gebeng..it was a spectacular view with plants all around with exposed steel structure

We stopped for some light meal..and they charged us for almost RM50 just for some simple satah and otak-otak plus drinks..maybe the two CRV made an impression..:-P

Satah: made of fish..I don't really like the taste..

Otak-otak..different form Johor's otak-otak, this is made of chunky fish mixed with coconut and tumeric..My fav is Otak-otak Gelang Patah

Almost forty minutes at this stall and we ended up smells like walking satay with bau asap all over our body..

We reached Primula Beach Hotel at 8pm and can't spend much time to pampered ourselves coz the Big Boss already at the lobby waiting for us with his wife.

Primula's lobby ..a sculpture with turtles crawling on a spiral steel..a significant element of Terengganu..this piece reminds me of Raja Shahriman's sculpture..a well known local sculptor

We had nasi minyak and gulai kawah at a restaurant not far from the hotel but I could only give one star for the food and the service, the waitress don't even come to our table to take our order, she just sat at nearby table and we have to almost screamed at her to placed order..and again we walked out from that restaurant with the smell of smoke..nasib baik tak sempat mandi..

Night life in Kuala Terengganu is similar to Kota Bahru..nothing much, but they are having Fun Fair adjacent to Masjid Kristal.

It was sleepless in Terengganu..i miss my kids so much and thinking of Hadif make it worst, and Sufiya kept asking 'mana mama..?'...

------Second Day:-------

Technical Visit:

Many factors need to be considered at design stage, not only aesthetic and cost but also geological and human factor.

They simply said this is due to force majoure but there are many ways to overcome this problem..won't comment too much on this anyway..

Airport Terengganu; Part of airport's ceiling which were affected by the strong wind...

We were briefed on the construction of this stadium that made headlines months ago..

Mega structure with mega failure.. structure failure..? lack supervision..? a waste of money

The remnants of the stadium..looks like a sculpture or Daniel Libeskind's piece of work- 'Deconstruction'

--------Kedai Batik---------

Remember that I promised myself not buy any batik..??hahah..rezeki depan mata..iman yang lemah..RM dalam poket..apalagi..I bought few pieces of kain batik for family, kaftan (which I don't like wearing it before) and baju batik for hubby and me..just closed one eye..
Backyard factory..staircase leading to the shop..its hard to find this shop, it is located not far from Restoran Penyu (which we had lunch and still feel hungry due to small portion)..had to drive thru small lane dekat-dekat celah rumah orang to reach this place..

--------Taman Tamadun Islam, Terengganu---------

Taman Tamadun Islam, located next to the river and near to State Museum. The entrance fee is RM10 and it comes with RM3 meal voucher and a passport with TTI's info.

Masjid Kristal at Taman Tamadun Islam

We rode a buggy and the fee is only RM55 for seven passenger, a tour guide will explained about all monuments and we were allowed to stop by to take photos and for some significant monuments like Taj Mahal and Baitul Muqqadis, there are AV presentation and mini gallery.

The park closed at 7pm and we rushed back to the hotel and had to skip our plan to had ikan celup tepung by the beach..next time, otherwise Big Boss merajuk.

--------Third Day------

Panggilan Pulau - escapade : Perhentian Island

Jetty at Besut..to be continued
